Two people riding a single moped opened fire on a stretch of Flagler Place NW last Saturday evening, grazing one person before speeding off, according to police. Now the Metropolitan Police Department is asking the public for help tracking down the shooters and is dangling a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
The shooting happened around 7:46 p.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of Flagler Place NW, according to WJLA. Police say two suspects arrived at the scene together on a moped, then got off before opening fire toward another person. That person suffered a graze wound and was treated at the scene, per the station's report.
After firing, the two suspects hopped back on the moped and escaped, according to MPD. The station's account does not indicate that anyone has since been identified, arrested, or charged in the shooting.
Surveillance Footage Released as MPD Seeks Tips
MPD released surveillance video of the two suspects this week and is asking anyone who recognizes them to come forward, the same account notes. Officials are offering a reward of up to $10,000, saying the information could lead to the arrest and indictment of whoever is responsible.
Police have cautioned residents with information not to approach the suspects directly. Tips can be submitted by texting 50411 or by calling 202-727-9099, per the report.
A separate emergency alert issued that Saturday night described two suspects by clothing: one wearing a gray hat and all-black clothing, the other in blue pants and a blue sweater, according to a bulletin from trainingtrack.hsema.dc.gov. That description has not been independently confirmed beyond the alert itself.
No further details about the condition of the person who was grazed, or about the identities of the suspects, have been released. The investigation remains open as police continue to seek the public's help identifying the two people caught on camera.
