Moses Lake police say they found loose fentanyl powder and a loaded firearm within reach of an 8-year-old child while serving a search warrant at a West Gary Street home on Sept. 16, leading to the arrests of two adults now facing charges of possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a firearm and child endangerment. The child was removed from the residence and placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
During the search, officers reportedly found loose fentanyl powder inside the home, along with evidence of drug trafficking and a firearm that was accessible to the child. As reported by NewsRadio 560 KPQ, the firearm found in the residence was loaded.
Two Booked Into Grant County Jail
Paul Fear, 36, and Brittany Silva, 34, both identified as Moses Lake residents, were arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a firearm and child endangerment, the report states. The 8-year-old child located inside the home during the search was transferred to Child Protective Services custody. It has not been established whether Fear or Silva is the child's biological parent or legal guardian, and police officials did not address that question.
The allegations against Fear and Silva have not been proven in court, and the case remains subject to further court proceedings, according to yoursourceone.com.
Part of a Bigger Crackdown
The West Gary Street raid lands amid an aggressive year for Moses Lake's drug enforcement efforts. The department's Street Crimes Unit recorded 83 total arrests in 2025, including 19 federal indictments, according to KPQ. Investigators with that unit also seized 52 firearms last year while serving 95 Superior Court search warrants and 30 federal search warrants, the outlet reports.
Fentanyl in particular has been a persistent target for local investigators; a separate report from the same outlet notes that 6,368 fentanyl pills were seized in 2025. The scale of that seizure underscores how the drug has become a fixture of local trafficking cases, of which the West Gary Street search is the latest example.
The Moses Lake case also follows a broader pattern of fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking prosecutions in the region. That broader pattern provides context for the case, though details of separate prosecutions remain limited.
