Nicholas Jarrell, 44, died at the scene after being stabbed in the chest during a confrontation inside an Oak Ridge Manor Apartments unit early Sunday, The Natchez Democrat reported. Police and emergency medical personnel responded and tried to save him.
The newspaper’s account says officers initially went to the complex in response to a domestic violence call. They identified Jarrell as the suspect and observed injuries on the victim that they considered consistent with an assault. Jarrell had left before officers arrived. Police completed a domestic violence packet for the victim and searched for him, according to the report.
The newspaper reported that Jarrell later returned to the apartment and entered by force, after which another confrontation occurred. The victim was taken to the police department for assistance and an interview. Investigators examined the scene and interviewed witnesses, including the victim. Police have not released details about the circumstances of the fatal confrontation or the weapon involved, and have not said whether anyone will face charges in Jarrell’s death.
