The café is billed as a new gathering space designed to enhance the visitor experience, and unlike the museum's exhibit halls, it is open to the public without requiring a museum ticket.
The grand opening, which took place in Sacramento on September 18, was reported by Sacramento Press. Galaxy Café is meant to give guests a place to relax and refuel while they explore MOSAC's exhibits, programs, and planetarium experiences, according to the outlet.
A New Stop Inside a Growing Science Hub
MOSAC has operated in Sacramento's historic River District since 2021, and the museum offers more than 30,000 square feet of hands-on science activities at its 400 Jibboom St. location, according to visitmosac.org. The museum notes that tickets are available both on-site and online, with free and discounted rates offered, and it says it is committed to making sure that its facilities, programs and exhibitions are accessible to all visitors.
For visitors driving in, the museum's website notes that the City of Sacramento operates the on-site parking lot, where the parking fee is $6 per day. That detail, paired with the new café's no-ticket-required access, gives neighbors and passersby another reason to stop by the River District campus even without planning a full museum visit.
