Ticket sales opened this week for NYC Off-Broadway Week, the twice-yearly discount promotion that lets theatergoers grab two-for-one seats to 25 productions scattered across Manhattan's smaller stages. The Fall 2026 edition runs October 5 through 18, and this round includes 15 shows making their first appearance in the program alongside longtime staples that have been packing houses for decades.
According to Open Jaw, New York City Tourism + Conventions announced that reservations are now open for tickets, which are available at nyctourism.com/offbroadwayweek. The promotion is presented in partnership with the Off-Broadway League, the trade association that has represented Off-Broadway producers and venue operators since 1959. The League describes itself as providing a home for plays and musicals in intimate venues, and according to ILoveNY.com, it represents an average of 150 members and more than 100 commercial and non-profit productions each year.
The lineup filters by neighborhood, genre and audience, per Open Jaw, giving visitors a way to sort through offerings that range from family-friendly fare like the Gazillion Bubble Show and The Very Hungry Caterpillar to comedy specials like Jena Friedman: Motherf*cker. Other participating titles include A Ghost in Your Ear, Alice in Wonderland, Creation Stories and All the Important Importants, Drunk Dracula, Friends! The Musical Parody, Going Bacharach, The Hairy Ape, The Heart, Heathers: The Musical, The Hope Theory, I Became We, Jamie Allan's Amaze, Lost in Del Valle, Our Sinatra, The Play That Goes Wrong, Singfeld! An Unauthorized Musical Parody About Nothing, TOC TOC, and The Unbelievers.
A 1987 Murder Mystery Meets Star-Studded New Drama
Among the anchor productions is Warren Manzi's Perfect Crime, playing at The Theater Center, which is the longest-running non-musical play in New York City history — continuously performed since it opened on April 17, 1987, and now past 14,000 total performances, according to Concord Theatricals. Lead actress Catherine Russell has starred in the show since opening night and holds a Guinness World Record for having missed only four performances over three decades.
On the opposite end of the spectrum sits Marin Ireland's Pre-Existing Condition, a domestic abuse recovery play that opened a return engagement at Manhattan's 199-seat Greenwich House Theatre this September. Per Theater Pizzazz, the production features a rotating lead cast that includes Lupita Nyong'o, Edie Falco, Phillipa Soo, Hari Nef, Susannah Flood, and Whitney White. The play initially debuted in summer 2024 in a 60-seat space at the Connelly Theater before transferring to its current, larger home.
William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is also part of the fall lineup, mounting a 20th anniversary revival Off-Broadway this year, according to NYC Tourism + Conventions. The musical originally debuted Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theatre in 2005 before transferring to Broadway, where it won two Tony Awards.
A Hockey Parody's Off-Broadway Payoff
Also newly added is Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody, the sports-comedy show running at The Culture Club. As Hoodline reported when the hockey musical extended a third time, the production has recouped its financial budget and extended its schedule through January 17, 2027, making it one of 15 new shows joining the promotion for the first time this fall.

Millions in Ticket Revenue Since 2009
The promotion has generated more than $6 million in revenue and sold 160,000 tickets since it began in 2009, supporting New York City's performing arts scene along the way, according to Open Jaw and figures reported by ILoveNY.com. New York City Tourism + Conventions describes its mission as inviting the world and energizing New York City while building equitable, sustainable economic prosperity and community through tourism; it is the official destination marketing organization and convention and visitors bureau for the city's five boroughs.
Off-Broadway venues are formally defined by trade union contracts as professional theaters seating between 100 and 499 people, distinguishing them from Broadway houses that seat 500 or more, according to Wikipedia. The capacity limit distinguishes these venues from Broadway's much larger houses concentrated around Times Square. Off-Broadway itself spans a wider geographic and artistic footprint than its Times Square counterpart, stretching from Greenwich Village to Hell's Kitchen and encompassing everything from experimental parodies to intimate dramas.
That growth in the Off-Broadway map has been visible locally too. Hoodline recently reported on plans to convert a former landmark church and nightclub at 311 West 57th Street in Hell's Kitchen into Arts 57, a 250-seat Off-Broadway theater complex, one sign of continued investment in the borough's mid-size venue stock even as the twice-yearly ticket promotion works to keep existing houses full.
