An unidentified person was featured in an NYPD Crime Stoppers burglary appeal involving a commercial storefront at 2441 Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. Police are asking the public for help identifying the person.
Photos of the wanted individual were shared in a post by NYPD Crimestoppers on Facebook, headlined simply, “Wanted for a Burglary.” The address in question houses a PayOMatic financial services branch, a cash-intensive retail operation offering check cashing, money transfers, bill payments, and automated cash kiosks, according to PayOMatic. Businesses like this one, which keep physical cash reserves on hand overnight, can present an attractive target for property crimes committed under cover of darkness.
A Storefront With a Troubled Recent History
This is not the first time this exact commercial address has drawn police attention. The storefront was the site of a September 2025 armed robbery in which a gunman demanded merchandise and assaulted a bystander, as well as an earlier June 2023 store robbery, according to the Norwood News. The repeated targeting of the location underscores an ongoing physical security challenge for merchants along this stretch of the West Bronx.
The August appeal also comes as burglars forced open a front door at 3:30 a.m. in May at another 52nd Precinct business and made off with a safe containing $85,000 in cash, as Hoodline reported in its earlier coverage of that Bronx plastic surgery heist.
Jerome Avenue's Shifting Commercial Landscape
Jerome Avenue is a 5.6-mile commercial artery dividing the West Bronx, running directly beneath the elevated IRT Jerome Avenue subway line, or 4 train, built in 1917, according to background compiled by City Limits. The elevated structure is a prominent feature of the corridor.
