Hundreds of quilts will be displayed from storefronts across Old Town Temecula on October 3, transforming Main and Front Streets into an open-air gallery for a single day. The Valley of the Mist Quilters Guild is staging its 27th annual outdoor quilt show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a milestone that marks nearly three decades of the event's partnership with the City of Temecula.

The nonprofit guild itself has deep roots in the region. The guild was formed in 1990 and has educational, charitable and social purposes, promotes quilting and fiber arts appreciation, and supports philanthropy. Its monthly meetings are held at the Temecula Civic Center Conference Room at 6:45 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. An eQuilter tribute honors Jane Tenorio-Coscarelli.
A Live Auction With Charitable Stakes
The main event's centerpiece is a live quilt auction beginning at 1 p.m. in the courtyard of the Old Town Temecula Community Theater at 42051 Main Street, alongside a boutique selling quilting goods, per the Press Enterprise report. The Merc is a black box space within the theater complex, reached through the historic 1890s Mercantile Building. The Mercantile Building is connected to the theater, as Hoodline previously reported.
Nearly half of all proceeds from the live auction go directly to local charities, the guild's published materials indicate. The show also features a grand-prize raffle drawing for a quilt, with tickets available from guild members.

Ahead of the outdoor show, an art quilts exhibition is on display at Temecula's Grace Mellman Library, located at 41000 County Center Drive, through October 2.
