Omaha Steaks opened the doors to its new Grapevine storefront last Friday, giving North Texas shoppers a third Lone Star location where they can walk in and buy flash-frozen steaks, burgers, seafood, chicken, and pork instead of waiting on a shipped order. The store sits inside Grapevine Towne Center at 1469 W. State Highway 114, Suite 600, joining existing Omaha Steaks retail outposts in Dallas and Fort Worth.
The Grapevine location fills a 1,735-square-foot suite inside the retail strip, according to leasing documentation from Weitzman, the commercial real estate firm that manages the center. Building permit records reviewed by Zabalist show the space underwent an estimated $200,000 renovation before opening, a buildout that typically includes the specialized commercial freezer and refrigeration systems specialty meat retailers rely on.
Community Impact, which first reported the store's opening, notes that Omaha Steaks' beef is hand-cut by butchers in Omaha and sourced from U.S. producers, and the Grapevine shelves stock the same lineup of complete freezer-to-oven meals, sides and desserts sold elsewhere under the brand. As Community Impact reports, the company has also rolled out a new business strategy centered on its proteins, with increased customization built into its product packages.
A Ribbon-Cutting Still to Come
The Grapevine Chamber of Commerce has scheduled an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the store on September 29, according to the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. That formal civic event follows the store's quieter opening earlier this month, a pattern local business groups often follow when ceremonial launches trail an initial soft opening by several weeks.
Shoppers who prefer to skip the shipping wait but still want to browse online can order through Omahasteaks.com and select free same-store pickup, retrieving flash-frozen meats and prepared meals directly at the Grapevine counter, according to Omaha Steaks. The same-store pickup option gives the new Grapevine outpost a hybrid role, functioning as both a walk-in butcher shop and a fulfillment point for online orders.
A Century of Direct-to-Consumer Meat
Omaha Steaks traces its roots to 1917, when Latvian immigrants J.J. Simon and B.A. Simon founded the company in Omaha, Nebraska, as Table Supply Meat Co. before renaming it Omaha Steaks in 1966, according to Wikipedia. The company opened its first brick-and-mortar retail storefront in downtown Omaha in 1976 as a pilot project, then began expanding into stores nationwide starting in 1985, per Mashed.
Today, the fifth-generation family enterprise operates more than 70 stores nationwide and holds the title of the nation's largest direct response marketer of premium beef and gourmet foods, per company background. The Grapevine location extends that retail push into North Texas, an area where the brand had already established a foothold with its Dallas and Fort Worth stores.
Why the Timing Makes Sense
The new storefront lands amid a broader surge in meat and frozen protein spending nationally. U.S. retail meat sales hit a record $112 billion in 2025, with grocery meat departments posting 6.8% year-over-year dollar sales growth driven largely by younger shoppers, according to the 2026 Power of Meat report cited by The National Provisioner.
Frozen food sales tell a similar story. Overall U.S. frozen food sales reached $87 billion for the 52-week period ending in September 2025, and sales of frozen processed meat and poultry more than doubled to $8 billion compared with 2019 levels, according to figures from the American Frozen Food Institute and FMI reported by Grocery Dive. Those tailwinds help explain why a century-old catalog and shipping brand like Omaha Steaks keeps investing in physical stores that let shoppers see, touch, and pick up their protein in person.
