A Familiar and Dangerous Stretch of Road
This is not the first time that stretch of road has made headlines for a deadly wreck. In November 2020, a single-vehicle crash on East Avenue P east of 240th Street East killed a 2-year-old boy, according to the Daily News. The exact report time is not specified.
The driver in that 2020 case, 26-year-old Devon Dorsey, suffered minor injuries and was later booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the Daily News reported at the time.
Other Deadly Crashes Nearby
The surrounding area east of Lake Los Angeles has seen other fatal wrecks in recent years. In August 2022, a high-speed, head-on crash at 240th Street and Avenue O, just east of Lake Los Angeles, left one person dead and another critically injured, according to ABC7.
Years earlier, in 2016, a 28-year-old Lake Los Angeles woman was fatally struck by an SUV while changing a flat tire on 240th Street East, south of Avenue O, at about 7 p.m. on a Saturday, according to FOX 11 Los Angeles. Each of these incidents remains a separate case, with no confirmed connection to Tuesday's fatal crash.
No information has been released about the cause of Tuesday's collision, the number of people in each vehicle, or whether anyone else was injured. The CHP has not announced any arrests or citations connected to the crash.
