One person died and another was critically injured after a multi-vehicle crash on Business 35 near the Aransas County Airport on Saturday, Sept. 19, according to Rockport Pilot. Two people were taken to a local hospital, where one later died. Business 35 was temporarily closed while emergency crews worked at the scene.
Responders from the Rockport and Fulton volunteer fire departments arrived at about 5:30 p.m., according to SouthTexasNews.com. The crash prompted a temporary closure of Business 35 as crews treated the injured and cleared the roadway.
Multiple Agencies Respond to the Scene
The report said Allegiance EMS and HALO Flight assisted, with local police, sheriff's deputies, state troopers and transportation personnel also responding. Air medical and ground ambulance crews were involved in the emergency response.
The Rockport Volunteer Fire Department, in a Facebook post cited in the same report, said one person died and another was critically injured in the crash. The department also thanked the community for its patience and understanding when closures like this one become necessary.

A separate three-vehicle crash on Highway 35 Business at West Gile Avenue in Aransas Pass was reported by the Aransas Pass Police Department on April 11, 2023. A 40-year-old man later died at a hospital, while other injuries were described as minor. That crash differed from the current incident in its reported location and date.

The Fulton Police Department and Texas DPS are investigating the cause of the crash, according to the report. Authorities have not released further details about the vehicles involved or the precise location beyond the area near the airport.
