Orlando's Terrace Gallery will host the city's 20th annual Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition through Nov. 5. The free exhibition opened Sept. 15 at City Hall, with Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 2 Commissioner Tony Ortiz hosting an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m., according to WESH 2.
The show features work by 27 local visual artists. The Terrace Gallery is on the first floor of City Hall and provides free public access; the City of Orlando describes it as flexible exhibition space for artists from Florida, elsewhere in the United States and abroad.
Artists represented in the exhibition
WESH 2's report identified three participants. Peruvian photographer Flavio Sanguinetti is showing black-and-white photographs centered on individual human stories. Puerto Rican artist Rafael Delgado is exhibiting publicly for the first time with Collective Strength, a work about unity and the growth of Hispanic and Latino culture in Orlando and beyond. Puerto Rican artist Melina Alegría contributed Las Playas Son del Pueblo, a mixed-media work using acrylic paint and fabric to create three-dimensional skirts associated with Puerto Rico's bomba tradition.
The exhibition uses the theme Unidos, Somos Más, translated as “Together, We Are More.” The available National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managers material describes a yearly process for soliciting and voting on themes, but it does not establish that process as the source of the 2026 Orlando exhibition's theme.
Other county observances
The city exhibition is part of a broader Orange County observance. The Hispanic Heritage Network of Orange County, an employee-founded nonprofit established in 1999, is presenting an exhibition with the same theme at the Orange County Administration Building from Sept. 4 through Oct. 22 and at Orlando International Airport from Sept. 15 through Nov. 9, according to Orange County Government.
Orange County has proclaimed Hispanic Heritage Month for Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, 2026. At a county meeting, Mayor Jerry L. Demings and commissioners also presented youth leadership and athletic scholarships to nine Hispanic students ages 13 to 19, according to an Orange County media alert.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, according to the White House. Orlando's additional city events include an Orlando Police Department Hispanic Senior Safety Summit at the Engelwood Neighborhood Center and a Community Celebration Event scheduled for Oct. 12 at the Marriott Orlando Downtown.
