The Orlando Magic's 2026-27 home schedule uses theme and unity nights to connect games with cultural observances, public-service recognition and community initiatives. The 20-night calendar at Kia Center runs from October through April and includes programming tied to culture, faith, health, military service, civic pride and fan engagement.
The calendar opens with a Hispanic Heritage Celebration against Cleveland on Oct. 13 and closes with Fan Appreciation Night against Toronto on April 9, according to WFTV. The Magic say the nights are intended to recognize Central Florida's diversity through community-focused events and initiatives, the station reported. All of the games are scheduled for Kia Center, the downtown Orlando arena renamed in a multiyear naming-rights deal with Kia America that took effect Dec. 20, 2023, ending its 13-year run as Amway Center, according to Forbes.
Health, Military and Public Safety Nights Carry Corporate Backing
Several of the season's marquee nights are tied to long-running corporate partnerships. Pink in the Paint, set for Oct. 16 against Miami, is presented by AdventHealth, which has served as the Magic's official healthcare provider for more than 30 years and opened a 130,000-square-foot training facility next to the arena in 2022, according to AdventHealth. That partnership includes work with Rothman Orthopaedics to provide sports medicine care to Magic players and the broader Central Florida public.
Seats for Soldiers, scheduled against Washington on Nov. 2, and STEM Night, set for Feb. 28 against Atlanta, are both presented by L3Harris Technologies, a global defense contractor headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, and the Space Coast's largest private employer, per Wikipedia. L3Harris was formed through the 2019 merger of Harris Corporation and L3 Technologies and runs major engineering operations across Brevard County, which helps explain the company's dual role backing both military recognition and STEM-focused programming. First Responders Night, presented by VyStar Credit Union against Oklahoma City on Jan. 10, comes from a sponsor that became the Magic's official credit union in March 2023 and offers members ticket discounts of up to 35% on select home games, according to VyStar Credit Union.
Cultural and Civic Nights Reflect Central Florida's Makeup
The cultural portion of the calendar spans several communities and observances: Jewish Heritage Night against Milwaukee is set for Dec. 27; Brazil Night against Chicago for Jan. 28; India Day against Brooklyn for Jan. 31; and Noche Latina against Utah for March 5, presented by Kia. Orange County's population is 35.4% Hispanic or Latino, according to 2024 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, a demographic backdrop for events such as the Hispanic Heritage Celebration and Noche Latina. Orange County is Florida's fifth most populous county, with Orlando as its seat.
Magic on the Yard, set for Feb. 2 against New Orleans, is an annual Black History Month program celebrating Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Divine Nine Black Greek-letter organizations, featuring performances and outreach tied to local HBCU alumni and law students from Florida A&M University, according to FAMU Law. Other civic and unity nights on the calendar include Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration against Golden State on Jan. 19, International Women's Day against Phoenix on March 9, Magic of Inclusion against Indiana on March 4, and Pride Night, also against Indiana, on March 22.
407 Day and World Basketball Day Round Out the Calendar
Two dates on the schedule tie into broader civic and global observances. 407 Day, set for April 7 against Boston, celebrates the Orlando area code and traces back to a campaign launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to encourage residents to support small businesses across Metro Orlando, according to the Rosen Centre Hotel. The promotion is organized annually alongside Visit Orlando, Orange County Government and the City of Orlando.
The calendar also connects the team to broader observances and family programming. World Basketball Day, against Sacramento on Dec. 21, marks an observance the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed in August 2023 for every Dec. 21, commemorating the date Dr. James Naismith introduced basketball at the Springfield YMCA in 1891, per the United Nations. The remaining dates include Kid's Night against Memphis on Jan. 3, Mental Wellness Night against Cleveland on Jan. 7, Faith & Family Night against Washington on April 3, and Fan Appreciation Night against Toronto on April 9.
An Annual Practice, Not a One-Off
This isn't a new experiment for the franchise. The Magic held 20 theme and unity nights during the 2025-26 season as well, including a Diwali Night, according to the Seminole County Chamber, which frames the practice as an ongoing organizational commitment carried out in coordination with regional business chambers and civic groups throughout Central Florida rather than a single-season initiative.
Theme nights alongside year-round outreach
The theme-night program is one visible part of a broader community strategy. According to the Orlando Magic, its Central Florida work includes arts, education, health and wellness, and homelessness initiatives. The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation likewise says it supports youth programs in education, housing and homelessness, the arts, and health and wellness. Those programs involve ongoing nonprofit and youth services rather than a single game-night event. One documented example is Covenant House Florida. In a separate 2023 report, the Magic said the organization had helped just shy of 400 Central Florida youth in 2021 through outreach, education and workforce services, shelter, a food pantry and case management, according to the Orlando Magic. That kind of direct support for young people experiencing homelessness differs from the recognition and fan programming associated with a theme night.
The theme-night rollout also arrives during a notable transition period for the franchise off the court. In July, original Magic play-by-play broadcaster David Steele announced his retirement after 37 seasons, having called games since the team's 1989 inaugural season, as Hoodline previously reported.
