Afternoon Storms Could Bring Gusty Winds
The chance of rain is around 30% in the Orlando point forecast, with higher storm coverage expected across much of east-central Florida. Northeast winds will increase to 10 to 15 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 20 to 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
A few stronger storms could produce wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph, frequent lightning, small hail and brief heavy downpours. Localized rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches may cause minor flooding in urban areas and other spots that drain slowly, so outdoor plans may need a backup option.
Wet Weekend Keeps Storms In The Forecast
Friday night should retain a 20% chance of precipitation, with isolated to scattered showers and storms continuing into tonight, while temperatures dip to about 73 degrees. Saturday brings another hot afternoon near 90 with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, while Sunday looks wetter, with storms likely and a 70% rain chance.
The unsettled pattern is expected to continue into next week, with shower and storm chances remaining near to above normal from Monday through Thursday. That extends the stormier setup outlined in an earlier Hoodline Orlando forecast, while temperatures remain close to seasonal norms.
No watches or warnings are posted for the Orlando area. Even so, residents should head indoors when thunder approaches, avoid flooded roadways and keep an eye on rapidly changing skies during afternoon errands or outdoor events.
