The relationship between a vehicle crash and a fatal shooting near Mesa Drive and Nyssa Street remains unclear. Houston police have not identified a suspect or suspect vehicle, according to Click2Houston.
Officers were called at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday after a vehicle struck a pole near the intersection. Homicide detectives found a victim with a gunshot wound to the back, the report said. A security guard working nearby told investigators he heard a loud crash and then gunfire. Police have not said what caused the crash or established whether it was connected to the shooting.
