A 9-year-old girl who went missing Wednesday afternoon after she was last seen at her Northeast Philadelphia elementary school was found safe and returned to her family Wednesday night, September 16, 2026.
The Philadelphia Police Department asked the public for help finding the girl, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. Cherizier is described as 4 feet tall and around 50 pounds. Police say she was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, blue pants and white sneakers, and that she was carrying a light pink backpack at the time.
What Police Want the Public to Know
Detectives have not released details about the circumstances surrounding Cherizier's disappearance. Police had urged anyone who saw her or had information about her whereabouts to contact the Northeast Detective Division, which can be reached at 215-686-3153, per the same NBC10 account.
Cases involving missing Philadelphia children have made headlines several times this year. In January, a 10-year-old boy, Muhammad Sakho, who had been reported missing after last being seen near Penrose Elementary School, was later found safe in Upper Chichester, according to CBS News Philadelphia. That case was also detailed by FOX 29 Philadelphia, which reported the boy was last seen around 8 a.m. Monday morning, although family members reported him missing Tuesday night, before he was located. A separate report of a missing 9-year-old Philadelphia girl, Ashonnah Davis, also ended with the child found safe after she was reported missing on a Saturday morning, according to a prior NBC10 Philadelphia report.
