Honolulu police are investigating an attempted-murder case after a 15-year-old boy was shot early Saturday in a parking lot in the Hālawa Housing area. Hawaii News Now reported that the teen was taken to an emergency room in serious condition. No arrest has been made.
Police account
According to the Honolulu Police Department, the victim and two other juvenile males were in the Kohomua Street lot when a vehicle arrived. A man wearing black clothing and a ski mask approached them, displayed what appeared to be a handgun and fired several shots. Police said the vehicle may have been a light-red, four-door sedan.
Earlier shooting reported
Separately, an August report by Hoodline described gunfire during a fight in the same parking lot. The report said no arrests had been made in that incident.
Redevelopment planning
Public records describe planning work at Puʻuwai Momi, the Hawaiʻi Public Housing Authority site that includes the Kohomua Street area. According to the Hawaiʻi Interagency Council for Transit-Oriented Development’s 2025 annual report, preliminary redevelopment plan schemes and a market study were developed for the site, along with archaeological, historic and cultural studies. The Hawaiʻi Public Housing Authority’s 2024 financial report also says additional master-planning refinements for Puʻuwai Momi were pursued with transit-oriented-development grants from the Office of Planning and Sustainable Development.
