FOX5 Las Vegas reported that NV Energy's outage map listed more than 400 affected customers, with the count later rising past 416. The station said the cause had not been determined and no restoration estimate was available at the time of its report.

Separate Fire-Safety Work
The outage's cause remains unreported; a separate project offers context on fire-related infrastructure measures in the area. NV Energy said work beginning October 14, 2024, in Mt. Charleston's Angel Peak area would replace older poles and use fire-mesh technology and covered conductors to improve reliability and fire safety. The project was separate from this outage.
The same report cited 2024 U.S. Census data putting Mt. Charleston's population at around 465. A population estimate and a count of affected customer accounts measure different things, so the outage count does not establish how many residents lost power.
