A pregnant 26-year-old Milwaukee woman is facing five felony charges and four misdemeanors after Kenosha police say she left her four young children crying outside their grandmother's home without making sure anyone was there to care for them, then assaulted a teenager who confronted her about it.
Children Left Outside Grandmother's Home
According to the criminal complaint cited by the Kenosha County Eye, prosecutors say Winn allegedly failed to ensure her four children — ages 6, 5, 3 and 2 — had safely entered their paternal grandmother's home, instead leaving them crying outside without arranging for any caretaker to be present. A booking record lists a child-neglect charge.
The complaint further alleges that a 17-year-old confronted Winn about the children before she allegedly slapped him in the chest, causing him pain. When asked why she did it, Winn allegedly responded, “'Cause I can.” That incident led to an additional felony charge of physical abuse of a child tied to the alleged slap, according to the same report.
Winn told police she was pregnant and wanted to go to the hospital, and an ambulance transported her to Froedtert South in Pleasant Prairie, per the same account. Prosecutors say testing showed her unborn child was healthy, though she allegedly became verbally aggressive toward nursing staff before being taken to the Kenosha County Jail following medical clearance.
Charges and Bond Conditions
In total, Winn is charged with four felony counts of child neglect, one felony count of physical abuse of a child, one count of disorderly conduct, misdemeanor bail jumping and resisting an officer, the Kenosha County Eye reports. A booking record from recentlybooked.com confirms Winn was booked by the Kenosha Police Department on September 26, 2026, at 7:13 p.m., and lists charges including resisting or obstructing an officer, child neglect involving a child under six, intentional child abuse, two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, an out-of-county warrant from another agency, and financial-institution fraud involving a value between $500 and $10,000. The booking site notes that arrest information does not imply guilt or conviction and that individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Winn has a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 6, 2026.
Prior Racine County Case
Prosecutors say Winn was already out on bond in a Racine County misdemeanor case at the time of Saturday's arrest. Racine County had charged her with resisting or obstructing an officer in August 2024, when she was released on no-cash bail under conditions that required she not commit any additional crimes. Prosecutors said that bond remained in effect as of Saturday. Separately, Judge Jodi L. Meier denied a prosecution request to seal the victim identification key in the case, according to the Kenosha County Eye.
