Triple-Digit Heat Index Returns
Sunny skies and nearly calm winds will push temperatures through 90 by lunchtime, with the hottest stretch arriving from midafternoon into early evening. The rain chance is just 2%, and no watches, warnings or advisories are posted in the latest update from the National Weather Service.
Tonight brings mostly clear skies but limited relief, with a low around 76 and heat index values as high as 103. Thursday and Friday stay stuck near 98 degrees, while Thursday’s heat index could reach 106.
Storm Chances Rise As Temperatures Finally Break
Saturday remains hot near 97 degrees, followed by a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Saturday night. Sunday marks the first real shift, with a high near 87, a 30% chance of showers and storms, and an overnight low around 68.
Labor Day should be mostly sunny and cooler near 86 degrees, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. The clearer weekend transition is an update to Hoodline’s Tuesday forecast, which also flagged the stretch of dangerous-feeling heat before the cooldown.
For now, the practical move is to front-load outdoor errands and workouts before the afternoon peak, then take regular shade or air-conditioning breaks and drink plenty of water. Children, older adults, people with chronic conditions and anyone working outside can heat up quickly in these conditions.
