Seattle is starting Thursday under mid- and high-level clouds and near 54 degrees, but the dry opening will not last. Clouds will build through the day, with rain arriving after about 5 p.m. and a wetter, windier pattern settling in by evening.
Thursday’s high should reach about 62 degrees. The National Weather Service Seattle office expects rain to spread across the lowlands Thursday night, with roughly half an inch to an inch possible and temperatures bottoming out near 53.
Rain Arrives For The Evening Commute
Friday looks unsettled, with rain expected before 11 a.m. followed by showers that may linger into the afternoon. A slight chance of thunderstorms is forecast for Friday afternoon and evening.
Friday will bring south winds gusting to 20 to 25 knots, or roughly 23 to 29 mph. Winds will be stronger along the coast and parts of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, where marine gale watches are posted; the weather service says lowland areas could pick up roughly half an inch to an inch through the system.
The sharper turn is an update from Hoodline’s earlier Seattle forecast, which flagged the late-week wet weather but came before the latest timing and wind details were added.
Sunny Weekend Offers A Brief Reset
Saturday and Sunday should bring drier conditions, with highs near 63 degrees. A weak system may pass Sunday.
Another chance of rain returns early next week, with temperatures remaining in the low 60s. For Seattle residents, the practical plan is simple: enjoy the dry start Thursday, keep rain gear nearby by evening and expect Friday to feel decidedly more like fall.
