Raleigh has its own Monopoly board, and Boardwalk is nowhere on it. MONOPOLY: Raleigh Edition trades the traditional Atlantic City properties for local landmarks, cultural sites and businesses handpicked by the community.
Top Trumps USA, the American branch of Winning Moves International, operates under license from Hasbro and describes the release as a way to celebrate Raleigh's community spirit while paying homage to the city's culture and history, per CBS 17. The station reports the game is the only licensed Monopoly version currently available in North Carolina, and describes Raleigh as one of the premier destinations in the central United States.
Local officials and business leaders gathered Wednesday at the North Carolina Museum of Art to unveil the finished board, the outlet reports. The customized edition includes tailored Community Chest and Chance cards and features the Acorn and Sir Walter Raleigh among its properties. Property squares include the North Carolina Museum of Art, William B. Umstead State Park, Boys & Girls Clubs, The Pit Authentic Barbecue, Two Roosters Ice Cream and the North Carolina Courage soccer team.
A Public Celebration on Glenwood Avenue
The launch didn't stop at the museum. To mark the game's debut, a public promotional event featured a meet-and-greet with Mr. Monopoly and a free game set giveaway, according to Triangle on the Cheap.
The custom board also features local sites and teams, including Pullen Park, Marbles Kids Museum, Chavis Park, North Carolina State University and the Carolina Hurricanes.
A Year of Community Input
The project traces back a full year. Top Trumps USA kicked off the Raleigh edition in September 2025 by soliciting community suggestions for board locations, customized Chance cards and local currency elements, as reported by Raleigh Magazine. Suggestions were gathered through public web forms and email over the following months.
Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell publicly backed the project when it was announced in September 2025, discussing the city's growth and population, the magazine reported. Cowell highlighted iconic mainstays and said selections would also include fresh spots.
The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce invited nominations in an October 14, 2025, post, according to its blog.
Raleigh Magazine described Hasbro as a 90-year-old game maker in 2025.
