A reward is now on the table for information leading to the capture of a Cleveland fugitive wanted in the murder of 10-year-old Kaden Coleman, who was shot to death inside a vehicle more than a year and a half ago. Authorities say Khalif Muhammed remains at large and is known to frequent the Cleveland area, even as investigators and the boy’s family continue searching for answers.
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering the reward for information leading to Muhammed’s arrest, according to Cleveland 19 News. Muhammed is wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police and the U.S. Marshals Service for aggravated murder, per the task force, and he is also wanted by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for violating the conditions of his supervision. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction lists him as wanted for that violation and describes him as someone who should be considered dangerous and possibly armed, warning the public not to attempt an apprehension.
Reports differ on Muhammed’s exact age. Cleveland 19 News reported him as 32 in an earlier report on the case, while Fox 8 has identified him as 34; the discrepancy has not been resolved. Officials describe him as a Black male standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds, according to Fox 8, which also reports that he is known to frequent the Cleveland area.
How the Shooting Unfolded
The shooting happened Feb. 7, 2025, in the 3000 block of East 147th Street in Cleveland. Kaden Coleman was sitting in the backseat of a vehicle when he was shot in the head, according to the earlier Cleveland 19 News report on the case. He was taken to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, where he died from his injuries several hours later, the outlet reported.
Investigators say Jeffrey Grant and an unknown suspect drove up in a rental car and fired multiple gunshots before fleeing the scene. Cleveland police later executed a search warrant at a home in Maple Heights on Feb. 10, arresting both Jeffrey Grant and Lanaemarshe Grant, per the same Cleveland 19 News account. Officers also reported finding a drug lab in the basement of that home along with more than 550 grams of cocaine.
Grand Jury Indictment Followed Days Later
A Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted Jeffrey Grant, 34, and Lanaemarshe Grant, 33, on Feb. 19, 2025, in connection with the case, according to a separate Cleveland 19 News report. Muhammed was later named as a third suspect sought in the case, though the task force has not disclosed the reward amount tied to information about his whereabouts.
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has used similar reward offers in other violent cases across the region. In one instance, the task force sought information on Stacey Mahone, who was wanted for strangulation, domestic violence and child endangering, according to WFMJ.
