The Pontiac stop marks the final date of a tour that follows Rio's return from federal prison, where he served time after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime tied to a 2019 indictment, according to Wikipedia. He surrendered to custody in 2021 and was released in December 2024. As The Detroit News notes in its weekly feature spotlighting local artists, he emerged from the Flint-area rap scene nearly a decade ago and has built a following on raw storytelling, dry humor, and depictions of authentic street life.

Once free, he kept up the pace, recording music while on the road and even performing across the 62-date Welcome Home Tour in 2025, according to the same report.
