Both the officer and the motorcyclist were taken to local hospitals following the crash.

Roanoke Police said the officer's family and the entire department should be kept in thoughts and prayers, a message that underscores how deeply a single critical injury can be felt in a compact agency. Official municipal records from the City of Roanoke show the department comprises 40 full-time sworn officers, two part-time officers, two reserve officers, and 14 civilian employees.
The department also leans on regional partnerships to keep operations running. Hoodline reported that another chase near the speedway in August 2026 ended when a fleeing vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35W just north of Highway 114, spanning both Tarrant and Denton counties.
What the Suspect Could Face
Under Texas Penal Code § 38.04, evading arrest or detention by vehicle is generally a state jail felony for a first offense and becomes a third-degree felony under specified circumstances, including a prior conviction or serious bodily injury during the apprehension attempt, according to FindLaw. Authorities have not yet disclosed what charges the motorcyclist will ultimately face.
