The Round Table Pizza at 4400 San Juan Ave in Fair Oaks reopened its doors on September 10, after it closed in summer 2025. The remodeled restaurant now operates under new ownership, bringing the chain's signature medieval theme and family atmosphere back to a corner of the community that had gone without it for months.
According to the Sacramento Bee, the Fair Oaks store's new owner is Raj Pooni, a franchisee whose relationship with Round Table stretches back years. State liquor licensing records reviewed by WhatNow show the location is operated under the corporate entity KPA CH, Inc., co-owned by Pooni and Ravinder Kang. Pooni signed a six-unit development agreement with parent company FAT Brands for the Sacramento market in 2022, a deal that built on a regional portfolio already including Round Table stores in Dixon and Rancho Cordova, per the same account.
Pooni has spent more than 30 years in fast-food franchising, and the Independent Voice describes him as buying stores that need a fresh attitude. He took over a Round Table store in Dixon in October 2022, and the Fair Oaks reopening includes remodeling under his ownership.
A Neighborhood Plaza Gets Its Pizza Back
The reopened restaurant sits at the corner of San Juan Avenue and Winding Way, according to commercial real estate listings. The area is also home to neighborhood businesses. Per the Sacramento Bee, a company spokesperson named Sophie Smith said the Fair Oaks location is welcoming guests back and bringing handcrafted pizzas to the local community.
Round Table traces its roots to 1959, when founder Bill Larson opened the original store at 1225 El Camino Real in Menlo Park. That location remains in operation today under the ownership of Larson's son, Bob Larson, according to SFGATE. Larson envisioned a gathering place where people could share pizza with someone they love, a founding idea the Sacramento Bee says still anchors the brand's marketing today. The chain now counts more than 400 locations nationwide, including 28 in the Sacramento area alone, spanning stores at Gateway West, Old Sacramento, Glenwood Meadows, and two Natomas addresses, per the Bee's reporting.
A Chain Under Financial Strain
The Fair Oaks reopening arrives as Round Table's corporate parent works through significant financial turmoil. FAT Brands has substantial debt, according to the company's own investor relations announcement.
That filing followed months of friction between FAT Brands and its franchisees. The Round Table Owners Association hired legal counsel to investigate the company over allegations that unpaid vendor invoices from a $14 million ad fund led to a multi-month lapse in brand marketing for operators, as reported by Restaurant Business. California remains the backbone of the chain regardless of the corporate turbulence: out of more than 410 Round Table locations nationwide, 338 are in California, representing over 80 percent of the brand's total footprint, per SFGATE.
New Menu Items and Neighborhood Growth
Customers returning to the Fair Oaks store will find the reopened location, even as the company works through corporate distress. The chain's corporate parent has continued issuing announcements about its offerings.
The reopening also adds to a wave of dining changes in Fair Oaks this year. Yada Thai Cuisine opened in the nearby Fair Oaks Square Shopping Center on Fair Oaks Boulevard in July, part of a broader pattern of new food concepts arriving in local retail plazas, as Hoodline previously reported on the Thai spot's debut. The Fair Oaks Round Table is now open from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays.
