A San Antonio man is wanted after officials say he abandoned three dogs in his care, leaving one to die from extreme emaciation and malnourishment. The Bexar County Constable's Office, Precinct 2 identified the man as Sebastian Martinez Guajardo and is asking the public for information about his whereabouts.
According to WOAI, officials say Guajardo is wanted on a Class A misdemeanor charge of cruelty to nonlivestock animals in connection with the case. The station reports that officials say he abandoned three dogs, and that one of them ultimately died from extreme emaciation and malnourishment.
Anyone with information about Guajardo's location is asked to contact the Bexar County Constable's Office, Precinct 2, which lists 210-335-4850 as its phone number, per its own staff directory.
What Texas Law Says About Animal Abandonment
Under the Texas Penal Code, the term abandon includes leaving an animal in a person's custody without making reasonable arrangements for someone else to take over that custody, according to the Texas Constitution and Statutes. The statute also classifies certain cruelty offenses, including those charged under specific subsections, as Class A misdemeanors, though repeat convictions in specified circumstances can be elevated to a state jail felony, per the same statutory text.
A Broader Pattern in San Antonio
The case comes amid ongoing local attention to animal abandonment in San Antonio. The city council approved changes to Chapter 5 of the City Code addressing animal abandonment and release within city limits in September 2025, according to a release from the City of San Antonio. It is not established whether that ordinance applies to Guajardo's case.
Other recent incidents point to a pattern of abandoned animals surfacing around San Antonio. In January, Animal Care Services said 20 puppies found abandoned during the holiday week had since been placed in safer surroundings, according to KSAT. And in a 2024 case out of South Texas, a man was jailed after video of him abandoning multiple dogs went viral on social media, MySA reported at the time.
For now, the search for Guajardo continues, with Bexar County Constable's Office, Precinct 2 asking anyone with tips on his location to come forward.
