San Antonio is stepping into another stretch of serious summer heat Wednesday, with sunny skies and an afternoon high near 101 degrees. The heat index could reach 105, making the hottest part of the day feel even more punishing for anyone heading outside.
Early Wednesday morning, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures around 79 degrees were reported locally. The National Weather Service forecast calls for only a 2% chance of rain in San Antonio, with a light south wind near 5 mph and no watches, warnings or advisories posted.
Heat Builds Through The Afternoon
Temperatures are expected to climb through the 90s around midday before reaching the day’s peak near 101 degrees between midafternoon and early evening. Skies will stay mostly sunny, and the limited breeze will do little to take the edge off the heat.
Wednesday night will bring only modest relief, with partly cloudy skies and a low around 78 degrees. The heat index could remain as high as 103 during the evening, so patios, practices and outdoor work may still feel uncomfortable well after sunset.
Triple-Digit Heat Continues Into The Weekend
Thursday looks nearly identical, with a high near 101 and a heat index up to 106. Friday should be slightly less intense at around 99 degrees, followed by sunny Saturday and Sunday highs near 98.
Rain chances remain low through Saturday, generally around 10% or less in San Antonio. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Sunday afternoon, with a 20% chance of precipitation, but most of the day is still expected to be sunny.
Labor Day Stays Hot
Labor Day on Monday is forecast to remain sunny with a high near 98 degrees, while overnight lows stay in the upper 70s. Another slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms is possible Tuesday, but the broader pattern remains hot, mostly dry and breezy at times.
For outdoor plans, the safest window will be early morning or after sunset. Drink water regularly, take breaks in air conditioning or shade, and do not leave children or pets in parked vehicles as the afternoon heat ramps up.
