A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon to 7 p.m. for the I-35 corridor and Coastal Plains, including the Austin area, according to the National Weather Service. Officials warn that hot temperatures and high humidity could cause heat illnesses during the afternoon.

Mostly sunny skies will accompany the afternoon climb, with south winds generally between 0 and 10 mph and gusts reaching 20 mph. Forecast heat index values could reach 111 degrees.
