A 29-year-old Severn man died early Saturday morning after his motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve on Town Center Boulevard, throwing him from the bike in a crash that Anne Arundel County Fire Department crews could not save him from. Police have identified the victim as Khanh Minh Nguyen, who lived in Severn and was riding a Kawasaki Ninja when he lost control heading northbound near the intersection with Jacobs Road.
Officers responded to the scene at about 4:10 a.m. Saturday, according to WBFF. Nguyen's motorcycle was traveling north on Town Center Boulevard when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and was thrown from the bike. Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel who responded to the scene pronounced him dead there. A crash reconstruction team was requested and will handle the ongoing investigation, the outlet reported.
Other Recent Motorcycle Crashes
Nguyen's death follows an earlier serious motorcycle crash in Severn. Less than two weeks earlier, a 25-year-old Severn rider suffered critical, life-threatening injuries after colliding with a turning SUV near Annapolis Road and Parkside Boulevard, a crash Hoodline previously reported. Just days before Nguyen's crash, a 42-year-old Glen Burnie motorcyclist was killed on September 20 after colliding with a left-turning passenger car at Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and East Maple Road in Linthicum, according to reporting from the same crash reconstruction unit's investigation.
Town Center Boulevard Near Fort Meade
Town Center Boulevard is a main road in Seven Oaks near Fort Meade. Anne Arundel County's capital budget includes an active project focused on roadway improvements along the boulevard between Jacobs Road and Pine Cove Avenue to enhance access between Fort Meade and the Odenton MARC station.
Nearby thoroughfares feeding into the corridor have their own troubled history. In July 2022, a hit-and-run crash on Annapolis Road near Town Center Boulevard left a 26-year-old bicyclist dead in July 2023, according to Eye On Annapolis.
Motorcyclists Remain Disproportionately at Risk
Nguyen's death adds to a sobering statewide trend. Maryland recorded four motorcyclist deaths during one week in July, while overall roadway deaths reached 226 in 2026, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration.
From 2018 to 2024, motorcycles were involved in an average of 3.18 percent of injury crashes and 13.6 percent of fatal crashes in Maryland. Under Section 21-1306 of the Maryland Transportation Code, motorcycle operators and passengers must wear Department of Transportation-approved protective headgear. Operators must wear eye protection unless the motorcycle is equipped with a windscreen, per Justia Law.
Investigators have not yet released findings on what caused Nguyen to lose control of the motorcycle in the curve. The crash reconstruction team's investigation into the Town Center Boulevard collision remains ongoing.
