A hybrid smashburger-and-pizza concept that first won over Las Vegas diners near UNLV is opening its second location this week, bringing griddled patties and New York-style slices to the city's southwest side. Smash & Slice 2 has opened at 6085 S. Fort Apache Road, Suite 180, with a grand opening celebration set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. that includes tiered giveaways for early arrivals.
The original Smash & Slice debuted in November 2024 at 9845 S. Maryland Parkway, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Owner and founder Tony Lee said he feels blessed to open a second restaurant in his hometown, adding that he was blown away by the response the first location received since it opened. The family-run restaurant built its identity around the brand promise “twice the smash, twice the slice,” pairing single, double and triple smashburgers with classic New York-style slices and grandma pies.
Smash & Slice isn't Lee's only stake in the local dining scene. He is also a co-owner of Smoke & Fire, a Las Vegas barbecue and comfort food restaurant on East Russell Road that drew notable community support after an overnight break-in earlier this year, according to News 3 Las Vegas.
A Burger Stuffed Inside Pizza Slices
The Fort Apache menu leans into the concept's mashup identity with items like the Pizza Smashburger, a $21.99 creation that sandwiches two smash patties, bacon, smash sauce and ranch between two slices of Grandma-style cheese pizza, per the restaurant's Toast online ordering menu. The smashburgers themselves come topped with American cheese, pickles and the restaurant's signature house smash sauce. The Fort Apache location also adds a vodka chicken parm grandma pie and vanilla milkshakes to the lineup, alongside loaded burger fries, baked-and-fried wings and Greg's zeppole for dessert.
The restaurant sources some ingredients locally, including artisanal salami from Las Vegas-based Viva Carne Salumeria for its specialty pizzas, a partnership the Fort Apache location has promoted on Facebook. Before its official debut, the new location ran a four-day super soft opening from August 25 through August 28, serving lunch and dinner from noon to 7 p.m. so the kitchen could test operations ahead of grand opening crowds.
Grand Opening Giveaways and Location Details
Saturday's celebration offers tiered prizes based on arrival order: the first 10 people in line receive gift cards, the next batch up to number 25 gets free combo meals, combos and slices along with exclusive t-shirts, those through number 50 receive combo upgrades including free fries and drink combos, and everyone through number 100 gets a free slice. Any customer who buys a burger combo also receives a free cheese or pepperoni slice during the celebration.
Smash & Slice 2 sits in Pine Plaza, a 3.9-acre Class B neighborhood retail center built in 2005 less than a mile from I-215 beltway ramps near Southern Hills Hospital, according to Colliers International. The South Fort Apache Road corridor serves the surrounding ZIP code 89148, home to more than 20,000 residences with a median listing price of $529,950 as of June, per the Nevada Real Estate Group. That density of rooftops near medical office corridors has made the stretch attractive to fast-casual operators looking to plant a second location.
The opening arrives as Nevada's restaurant industry continues to expand as a major economic force, with 7,094 eating and drinking establishments generating $23.3 billion in annual sales and employing 231,000 workers statewide, according to the National Restaurant Association. Nevada lawmakers also gave operators a new revenue tool last year: Assembly Bill 375, enacted in June 2025, permanently legalized sealed to-go cocktail sales from licensed restaurants, a policy the Nevada Restaurant Association projected could generate up to $286 million in new annual revenue statewide.
Nationally, the restaurant industry is projected to reach $1.55 trillion in total sales in 2026, though the National Restaurant Association's 2026 State of the Restaurant Industry report notes real sales growth remains modest at 1.3%, with gains driven more by pricing than by additional volume. That backdrop has pushed independent operators like Smash & Slice toward multi-unit expansion as a way to manage elevated costs. The chain's second Las Vegas outpost joins a busy year for fast-casual growth in the valley, following Hoodline's earlier report on Marathon Burger's first Vegas drive-thru.
Smash & Slice keeps customers updated through its website, smashandslice.co, and its Instagram handle @smashandsliceco. Saturday's grand opening runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Fort Apache Road location in Southwest Las Vegas.
