Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg is set to host its first-ever college baseball tournament, with Austin Peay, Indiana, UNCW and Wofford squaring off in six games over three days from Feb. 26-28, 2027. The event, called the inaugural Spartanburg College Baseball Series, is scheduled to run from Feb. 26-28.
REV Entertainment announced the Spartanburg College Baseball Series, according to WSPA 7News. The four-team field, featuring Austin Peay, Indiana, UNCW and Wofford, will play a six-game slate spread across three days at the ballpark. Indiana, representing the Big Ten, is among the teams set to play in the series.
The tournament continues on Feb. 27 and concludes on Feb. 28.
A Growing Slate for the College Baseball Series
Spartanburg's tournament is just one piece of a much bigger picture for 2027. The event is one of seven tournaments across five locations planned for the year, making it the largest schedule in the history of the College Baseball Series, per the same WSPA report. Since the series began in 2021, it has hosted more than 140 games and drawn over 430,000 fans, according to collegebaseballseries.com.
Both participating mid-majors arrive with strong recent form. Wofford enters the tournament after recording its eighth consecutive 30-win season in 2026, while UNCW has extended its own streak of 30-win seasons to 18 consecutive years dating back to 2009, per the College Baseball Series website. Fifth Third Park itself is still new to the college scene: the ballpark opened in 2025 and Wofford played the first game ever held there that year, per collegebaseballseries.com.
Tickets and Prices for the Weekend
Fans have a handful of ways to attend. Three-day tournament passes run $55 for adults and $30 for youth, while single-day tickets cost $20 for adults and $12 for youth, per the WSPA report. A Home Plate Reserved option is also available for $75 for adults and $45 for youth ages 13 and under, before taxes and fees, according to collegebaseballseries.com's announcement of the tournament's expansion into Spartanburg. That premium package includes access to all three days of the tournament along with reserved seats behind home plate, reserved parking and a commemorative souvenir hat.
Group tickets for parties of 10 or more, as well as suites, are available by contacting the Hub City Spartanburgers, the WSPA report notes. Fifth Third Park is home to the Spartanburgers, the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, per collegebaseballseries.com.
Context From a Regional Rivalry
Wofford's ties to Fifth Third Park extend beyond this new tournament. The team met USC Upstate there for the second straight season in a crosstown rivalry game, having played the stadium's first-ever game the previous April, according to USC Upstate Spartans. That history has made the ballpark a familiar setting for Wofford heading into its Spartanburg Series debut.
