Spartanburg Police are searching for a missing 17-year-old girl who has not been seen since Monday morning. Paris Reed was last seen on Woodview Avenue, standing about 5 feet 4 inches tall, wearing a white top and black bottoms, and carrying a large pink backpack.
According to WYFF4, Spartanburg police have asked anyone with information about Reed's whereabouts to call the department. Family members also circulated missing-person flyers online offering additional descriptors: a post shared through the Facebook page AllegedlyReportedly states that Reed weighs about 110 pounds and was last seen wearing black Crocs.

Woodview Avenue sits in Spartanburg's Forest Park neighborhood, an area in the 29306 ZIP code.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Spartanburg Police Department, which operates out of headquarters at 206 N. Forest Street.
No Waiting Period for Missing Child Reports
South Carolina law bars state and local law enforcement agencies from enforcing any mandatory waiting period before accepting and acting on a report of a missing child or runaway, according to a policy document from the City of Anderson Police Department. That means Spartanburg police were required to begin investigating Reed's disappearance immediately rather than delaying the search.
South Carolina AMBER Alert guidelines say a statewide AMBER Alert can only be activated once police confirm a minor age 17 or younger has been unlawfully abducted and is in imminent danger of bodily harm or death, with other explanations for the disappearance ruled out. Separately, the state's Endangered Person Notification System, created under SC Code § 23-3-330, allows SLED to issue public advisories for missing individuals with dementia, autism, or other cognitive impairments even without evidence of abduction, though that mechanism applies to a different category of cases.
A Second Missing Minor in the County
Reed's case is not the only active search for a missing juvenile in Spartanburg County this week. Hoodline reported that authorities were also searching for 12-year-old Riley Berryhill, a seventh-grader who disappeared from the Woodruff area near Arnold Road and Highway 101 in southern Spartanburg County. Berryhill's case falls under the jurisdiction of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, distinct from the city's police department handling Reed's search.
South Carolina has active missing-person cases open at any given time. Nationally, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children says it supported 32,167 missing children cases in 2025, with runaway cases making up 92 percent of all reported missing youth nationwide.
