Gearheads and dog lovers have a new reason to circle their calendars: the Medina County Sheriff's Office is bringing its 4th Annual Cars for K9s event to J.B. Firestone Park in Spencer on Sunday, September 13, running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entry costs $10 per vehicle, or free with the purchase of a gun raffle ticket.
This year's event will be held at J.B. Firestone Park. According to a Medina County Sheriff's Office Facebook post, the office is promoting the event. Earlier iterations of the car show were held at the Medina County Career Center in Medina.
Why Spencer, and Why It Matters Locally
The fundraiser is scheduled to take place in Spencer at J.B. Firestone Park.
Sheriff Terry Grice became sheriff of Medina County, according to the Chronicle Telegram. His office is participating in the fundraiser.
The Dogs Behind the Fundraiser
Public demonstrations by the Medina County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit have included narcotics detection and other skills, according to The Gazette.
The unit performs live public safety demonstrations at community gatherings such as the annual Medina County Fair, giving residents opportunities to see the dogs at work outside of routine patrols.
More Than Just the K-9 Unit
The car show is one of the sheriff's office's community-facing activities. The office has also drawn recent attention for canine-related goodwill closer to home: in September 2026, Sergeant Matthew Denton adopted Trooper, a puppy rescued at a Medina County highway rest area by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, according to Cleveland 19 News.
Cars for K9s isn't the only event of its kind in the region this year. Hoodline previously covered a similar Cars for K9s show in Springfield Township that drew roughly 200 vehicles to support that department's police dogs.
