Dogs walking into the TD Bank branch at 3900 4th Street North in St. Petersburg's Allendale neighborhood can now earn themselves a free snack without their owners spending a dime. The bank has installed the city's first Dog ATM, a machine that looks like a standard cash dispenser but hands out biscuits instead of bills.

The device, officially called the Automated Treat Machine, works through a motion-sensor paw mat: when a dog steps up, it drops a free treat into a stainless steel bowl while canine-focused videos play on the screen, according to TD Stories. The Allendale installation was first reported by the Tampa Bay Times, which noted the branch sits along a busy commercial corridor north of downtown St. Petersburg.

The First Pilot

TD Bank launched its initial pilot in South Philadelphia in January 2024, the bank's own account of the rollout explains. That first machine opened at 2201 South Broad Street near a popular neighborhood dog park, a launch Hoodline covered at the time in a piece on the bank's first dog-friendly ATM debut.

After that trial run, the treat machines spread to eight more East Coast branches in 2025 before the bank announced a further expansion to cities including Wilmington, Delaware, and St. Petersburg in June, ultimately reaching 14 locations stretching from Maine to Florida. Florida actually saw its first Dog ATM months earlier, when TD Bank unveiled one at its Coral Gables branch on Ponce de Leon Boulevard in October 2025, a launch that WSVN reported featured local shelter dog adoption stations and pet-focused activities.

A Dog-Friendly Banking Feature

The treat machines give dogs visiting a branch a way to receive a treat.

Regional managers told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Dog ATM locations are deliberately picked in active residential neighborhoods where customers already bring their pets along on branch visits. That logic tracks with the choice of Allendale.

A Local Business Move

Hoodline recently reported that Salty Pup Coffeehouse moved from Gulfport to St. Petersburg.

For now, the Allendale branch stands alone as St. Petersburg's only Dog ATM location, and TD Bank has not said whether additional Tampa Bay branches will get the treat dispensers next.
