Milwaukee woke up Friday with humid conditions and morning storms in the forecast. Storm chances linger through late morning, with temperatures climbing to about 84 degrees before another round of scattered storms may develop Friday evening.
Morning Storms Could Bring Heavy Rain
The National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan office says scattered showers and storms will continue through the morning, with a localized heavy-rain threat and a few strong storms still possible. Milwaukee’s forecast calls for a 50% chance of precipitation, with new rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter inch possible, according to the National Weather Service.
The greatest concern for heavier rain is north of a Green Lake-to-Mequon line, where some locations already picked up 1 to 3 inches overnight. Anyone heading north of Milwaukee should watch for ponding on roads and sudden downpours, even as conditions gradually become quieter late in the morning. According to the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, just one inch of rain across its service area equals about 7.1 billion gallons of water, helping explain why intense downpours can quickly strain local systems. As a separate past example, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District said 98 combined sewer overflows were verified and 15 sanitary sewer overflows were confirmed during the August 2025 storms.
Friday Night Stays Warm And Humid
After a midday lull, scattered showers and thunderstorms could redevelop Friday evening and continue into the overnight hours. Generally light winds and possible marine dense fog are also in the forecast.
No watches, warnings or advisories are currently listed for Milwaukee County or Lake Michigan. Still, outdoor plans may need a backup option Friday night, especially for anyone spending time near the lake or traveling during the evening storm window.
Weekend Outlook Improves
Saturday will be dry, with highs in the low to mid-80s. Saturday night should be partly cloudy with a low around 66, setting up a mostly sunny Sunday with a high near 76. The National Weather Service notes that in summer, lake-shore temperatures can be around 80 while temperatures farther inland soar into the 90s, illustrating why Lake Michigan can moderate conditions near Milwaukee's shoreline.
Labor Day looks similarly cooperative, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 78. Humidity will hang around through the weekend, but the stretch from Saturday through Monday is expected to be considerably drier than Friday.
