Styx is heading back to the Las Vegas Strip for its seventh consecutive year at The Venetian Theatre, with five shows scheduled for January 29-30 and February 3, 5 and 6, 2027. The band will take the stage each night at 8:30 p.m., picking up a residency tradition that dates back to when Styx first debuted at the venue in January 2017.
A Milestone Year For Tommy Shaw
The run also lands during a landmark year for guitarist Tommy Shaw, who joined Styx about 50 years ago, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Shaw originally stepped into the band in December 1975, replacing founding guitarist John Curulewski just ahead of the tour supporting the “Equinox” album, per Wikipedia. He went on to write and sing lead on some of Styx's signature songs, including “Renegade” and “Blue Collar Man.”
“We're a band that loves to play, write and record,” Shaw said, according to the Review-Journal, adding that Styx remains a tight unit even five decades into his tenure. The current lineup rounding out the group includes James “J.Y.” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd Sucherman, Will Evankovich, and bassist Terry Gowan, with Chuck Panozzo also appearing on select segments of the band's live show, per the same report.
Family Ties And A New Bassist
Terry Gowan officially joined Styx in May 2024, stepping in for 21-year veteran Ricky Phillips and teaming up with his brother, lead vocalist and keyboardist Lawrence Gowan, according to Sonic Perspectives. Terry Gowan had previously spent decades touring and recording on his brother's solo projects before making the jump to Styx full time.
The addition capped a run of continuity for the band, which has sold more than 54 million albums worldwide, per the Review-Journal. Styx had four consecutive RIAA-certified multi-platinum albums — “The Grand Illusion” in 1977, “Pieces of Eight” in 1978, “Cornerstone” in 1979, and “Paradise Theatre” in 1981 — according to Visit Naples.
Chart-Topping Legacy, Still Making New Music
“Paradise Theatre” stands as Styx's top-selling album, with nearly 3.2 million in sales per the Review-Journal, and it remains the band's only release to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200, according to Visit Naples. The 1981 concept record was built around the rise and fall of Chicago's historic Paradise Theatre.
Styx isn't just leaning on old hits, though. The band released its 18th studio album, “Circling from Above,” in July 2025 via Alpha Dog 2T/UMe, a 13-track project exploring human experience through technology and nature, as reported by BroadwayWorld. Styx also maintains one of classic rock's busiest touring schedules, averaging more than 100 live performances a year for over two decades, per Visit Naples, routinely pairing residency runs with co-headlining amphitheater tours.

Ticket Details For The 2027 Run
Tickets for the five-night engagement start at $55 plus applicable fees. Tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster.com, VenetianLasVegas.com and Venetian box offices, with ticket sales beginning at 10 a.m. Pacific time, per the Review-Journal.
Styx first premiered at The Venetian Theatre alongside Don Felder in 2017, and the Strip stop has become a fixture on the band's calendar ever since.
