A commercial truck that sat neglected in a Sugar Land shopping center parking lot for roughly four years has finally been hauled away, ending a long-running mystery for shoppers and neighbors along the 4500 block of Highway 6. The vehicle had flat tires and expired registration by the time it disappeared.
The truck was gone when KPRC Click2Houston reported its removal. The vehicle had remained in the parking lot for years before that intervention.
Earlier reporting on the truck, which first drew attention as a commercial vehicle that appeared to have been abandoned in the shopping center parking lot, found that its tags showed it hadn't been registered since 2022.
A Tie to the Fitness Center Next Door
In its earlier coverage, KPRC reported that management initially said it was unaware of a connection to the vehicle. By the time the truck was removed, Fitness Connection had acknowledged the issue, according to the station.
The vehicle's eventual destination was unclear.
Vehicle-Contribution Documentation
According to IRS Publication 4303, written acknowledgments tied to vehicle-contribution deductions, particularly contributions over $500, should identify the donor's name and taxpayer identification number, the vehicle identification number and the contribution date. The publication also says it is not intended as a guide for corporate donors.
