Milwaukee is waking Thursday to clear skies and temperatures in the upper 50s, with a mostly sunny afternoon expected to reach about 64 degrees. The comfortable-looking forecast on land comes with one important exception: Lake Michigan remains dangerous for swimmers and anyone venturing onto exposed shoreline structures.
The National Weather Service says a Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through 1 p.m. Thursday, with life-threatening waves of 3 to 5 feet and dangerous currents expected along Lake Michigan beaches in Milwaukee and nearby counties. Officials are urging people to stay out of the water and away from piers, breakwalls and other exposed areas, according to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan.
