The National Weather Service Jacksonville office says the coastal flood advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Sunday, with flooding possible in some lots, parks and roads around high tide. Isolated road closures are possible, and swimmers should stay near lifeguards because rip currents can pull even strong swimmers away from shore.
Sunny Sunday Gives Jacksonville A Dry Break
Most of the city should stay sunny and rain-free Sunday, with west winds around 5 to 9 mph and an afternoon sea breeze developing near the coast. Sunday night will remain mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to about 62 degrees in Jacksonville.
Monday and Tuesday will continue the dry stretch, but the heat returns with highs near 89 degrees both days. Overnight lows will sit in the upper 60s, making early mornings comfortable before the afternoon warmth builds.
Storm Chances Return Late This Week
Wednesday should stay mostly sunny with a high near 88 degrees, while rain chances begin to creep back into the forecast Thursday afternoon. The chance of showers and thunderstorms rises to 30% Thursday and 40% Friday, with another chance of storms Saturday.
For beachgoers, the immediate concern is the water rather than the clouds. The forecast calls for elevated surf and dangerous currents Sunday, while boaters offshore should also keep an eye on marine conditions before heading out.
