Sushiya is scheduled to serve its final customers on September 29, ending the restaurant’s 28-year run in West Hollywood, according to the New York Post.
The restaurant opened in 1998 at 8650 Sunset Boulevard, in the Sunset Plaza district, the WeHo Times reported. Its owners announced the shutdown in September without identifying a replacement location.
In the farewell notice, the owners said Sunset Boulevard had changed substantially while Sushiya continued serving late-night customers. They urged former customers, neighbors and other patrons to visit before the final night, according to the WeHo Times.
A Changing Sunset Plaza
Sushiya’s closing follows other departures from the area. Chin Chin ended its Sunset Plaza run in 2025 after more than four decades, while Le Petit Four also closed after nearly 40 years, according to Hoodline. Sushiya will remain open through September 29.
