Seattle police say a shooting Sunday night in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood left a teen wounded and expected to face a firearm charge, while a second person showed up separately at a hospital with injuries tied to the same incident. Officers responded to reports of shots fired along 10th Avenue South around 9:30 p.m., according to police.
The first victim, who police say is under the age of 18, was shot in the leg and found in possession of a loaded handgun, according to KIRO 7 News Seattle. Seattle Fire Department medics transported the teen to Harborview Medical Center, where the outlet reports the minor was listed in stable condition. A second person injured in the incident was later dropped off at Harborview separately and was also reported in stable condition, per the same account.
The teen was expected to be booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center on charges tied to unlawfully possessing a firearm, the report states. That facility houses King County's juvenile detention center and juvenile court programs, according to King County Government.

Under Washington state law, a minor under 18 caught possessing a firearm can be charged with unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree, a Class C felony that carries up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, according to the Washington State Legislature. It remains unclear whether the recovered handgun was fired during Sunday's incident, and police have not detailed the exact relationship between the two victims or confirmed whether they were struck in the same exchange.
Harborview Medical Center, where both victims were treated, serves as King County's primary Level 1 trauma center, according to Apartments.com property listing data for the area. The 10th Avenue South corridor itself includes a stair-and-ramp hillclimb project reconnecting Yesler Terrace with communities to the south, per GeoEngineers.
