Three men, one armed with a knife and another with a handgun, robbed an adult and a juvenile near a vehicle on the 2600 block of Whitehead Road last Monday afternoon before speeding off in a white four-door Honda Accord. The holdup happened around 4:05 p.m. in Columbus's Hilltop neighborhood, and police are still trying to identify the suspects.
According to Columbus Division of Police, the three males approached the two victims and took property from both of them before fleeing in the Accord. Local reporting on the police findings identified the victims as an adult and a juvenile who were approached near a vehicle before their belongings were taken, according to a local news report. A 911 incident log from that day indicated that a female victim suffered a minor knife wound to her finger during the encounter before the suspects fled with her wallet and vehicle keys, per Citizen.

The robbery took place in the Hilltop, part of Columbus's Westside. Despite that investment, crime metrics compiled this month show the Hilltop's overall crime rate running 40% above the national average, with property crime elevated 36% above national baselines, per data from DoorProfit.

Major Crime Bureau data through September 22 recorded 58 homicides in Columbus so far this year, keeping the city on track for fewer than 100 homicides in 2026, according to figures cited by Mothers Of Murdered Columbus Children. That broader trend has put a spotlight on street-level armed robberies like the one on Whitehead Road as a persistent concern for patrol zones even as homicide numbers ease.
What Suspects Could Face If Caught
Under Ohio Revised Code § 2911.01, committing a theft while displaying, brandishing, or possessing a deadly weapon constitutes aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony carrying a potential sentence of 3 to 11 years in prison and fines up to $20,000.
