Three enlisted U.S. Navy personnel were hospitalized after a fight broke out at a house party in Northwest Fresno and turned into a stabbing late Friday night. Two of the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while a third sustained serious wounds but is expected to survive.
According to ABC30 Fresno, Fresno police officers were called to Community Regional Medical Center just before 10:30 p.m. Friday after the three victims showed up there with stab wounds. Police said the trio had been attending a house party off Crystal Avenue, south of Shaw Avenue, when a fight broke out and all three were stabbed during the altercation. The outlet reported that all three victims were enlisted Navy personnel, though the cause of the fight has not been made public.
The hospital where the men were treated, Community Regional Medical Center, is the only Level I Trauma Center covering a roughly 15,000-square-mile stretch of Central California between Los Angeles and Sacramento, according to Community Medical Centers. Affiliated with the UCSF School of Medicine, the facility has 685 beds and handles more than 130,000 patient visits a year in one of the busiest emergency departments in the state, per UCSF Fresno. All three victims arrived at Community Regional Medical Center after the stabbing.

The Fresno Police Department's Northwest Policing District operates from 3080 West Shaw Avenue, per the City of Fresno. No arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the stabbing, and police have not released details on what triggered the fight.
A Corridor With a Recent History of Violence
This is not the first violent incident to hit the Shaw and Crystal Avenues corridor this year. Less than two months earlier, in July, Fresno police responded to a stabbing at the E-Z Trip gas station near the same intersection after a fight over a gas pump escalated between two motorists, according to CBS47 Fresno.
Citywide, aggravated assaults in Fresno dipped slightly from 2,890 in 2023 to 2,817 in 2024, while homicides fell from 35 to 30 — continuing a decline from a peak of 74 homicides in 2020, per GV Wire. Even so, FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data for 2024 placed Fresno's overall violent crime rate at approximately 735 incidents per 100,000 residents, according to OpenCrime.
