A new Tia's Taco Hut is headed for Schertz, Texas, with plans for a roughly 2,500-square-foot restaurant at 4721 Roy Richards Drive, Suite 101. The project calls for a first-time interior finish-out estimated to cost $250,000, with construction slated to begin October 30 and wrap up by March 26, 2027.
According to WhatNow San Antonio, the buildout will include new interior partition walls along with mechanical, electrical and plumbing work needed to turn the space into a functioning restaurant. The project is funded with private money for private use, and it's registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Benny Costello is listed as the tenant contact on the filing, while Phillip Pfeiffer is named as the property owner's contact.
Tia's Taco Hut is operated by Benny and Lisa Costello, who founded the chain in 2014, the outlet's earlier coverage of the company noted. The menu leans into Tex-Mex and American comfort food, with breakfast tacos, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, nachos, tortas and burgers all on offer, per the same filing details.
Expansion Keeps Rolling Across the San Antonio Area
The chain has other projects in the pipeline. Separately, CultureMap San Antonio reported the chain was planning its 13th location at 3643 Evans Road, with an expected settle date of early 2026 if construction stayed on schedule.
The company's own website states it currently runs 17 Tia's Taco Hut locations. The Costellos also own and operate several Mr. C's Fried Chicken & Waffles spots around the San Antonio area, according to WhatNow's reporting on the Naco Retail Center project.
No Word Yet on an Exact Opening Date
As with the chain's other pending projects, no exact opening date has been announced for the Schertz restaurant. The filing reviewed by the outlet did not include further details about the planned menu, design or any distinguishing features for the new location. WhatNow said it reached out to Tia's Taco Hut for additional information but had not received a response at the time of its publication.
