Tidal Flooding Threatens Low-Lying Shorelines
A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m. Friday for the District shoreline, with up to 6 inches of water expected in low-lying areas around high tide. The National Weather Service says flooding is expected at the unprotected Southwest Waterfront near the D.C. Seafood Market, with water also approaching parts of Hains Point Loop Road and Fletcher's Boathouse; portions of Roosevelt Island are flooded. Drivers should avoid barricades and never drive through water of unknown depth.
