Timberland opened a new store inside Grapevine Mills mall last Friday, stocking everything from waterproof outdoor boots to reinforced work boots with metal toes. The shop, located at 3000 Grapevine Mills Parkway, Ste. 416, also carries the brand's casual and business-oriented footwear designs alongside apparel and accessories like shirts, pants, jackets and backpacks.

According to Community Impact, the new location rounds out its footwear lineup with a mix of outdoor-ready and work-focused boots designed to handle rugged conditions. Store employee Tomas Almeida told the outlet that Timberland uses real leather in many of its boots, a detail that speaks to the brand's long-standing reputation for durable construction.

That reputation traces back decades. Timberland grew out of the Boston-based Abington Shoe Company, whose founder Nathan Swartz introduced injection-molding technology in 1965 to fuse boot soles to leather uppers, according to Finish Line. That innovation led to the debut of the brand's original waterproof “Yellow Boot” in 1973, and the Swartz family officially renamed the business The Timberland Company in 1978.

A Regional Push Across North Texas

The Grapevine Mills opening is part of a broader expansion for Timberland across North Texas this year. The brand announced plans in May to open another Dallas-Fort Worth-area store at Allen Premium Outlets, according to Community Impact, with that Allen location slated to open near Bath & Body Works.

The push comes as parent company VF Corporation rebounds from a rough stretch. VF Corp, based in Denver, reported full-year fiscal 2026 revenue of $9.6 billion, marking its first annual growth in three years, driven in part by an 8% sales gain for the Timberland brand, per the Denver Gazette. The company also sold its Dickies workwear brand to Bluestar Alliance for $600 million in 2025, using the proceeds to pay down $800 million in corporate debt and refocus resources on core growth brands like Timberland.

Why Grapevine Mills Keeps Landing Big Names

Timberland's arrival adds to a steady stream of national and international retailers setting up shop at Grapevine Mills, which spans nearly 1.8 million square feet with more than 180 retailers and attractions like LEGOLAND Discovery Center, SEA LIFE Aquarium and Meow Wolf Grapevine, according to Community Impact's own reporting. Irish fast-fashion retailer Primark opened its first Dallas-Fort Worth location there in late 2024, occupying a reconfigured section of a former Burlington footprint, and Hoodline previously reported that Ulta Beauty is plotting a fall arrival inside the mall as well.

Part of the draw is Grapevine's outsized role as a shopping destination. Tourism accounts for roughly 84% of the city's sales tax revenues, supported by an estimated 13 million annual visitors to Grapevine Mills. The mall sits just two miles from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and in September 2025 it installed an on-site TaxFree Shopping refund kiosk so international visitors could receive immediate sales tax refunds while shopping.

Landlord Simon Property Group, which owns a 59.3% stake in the mall, completed a nearly $40 million renovation in 2016 to modernize the property's layout and elevate its tenant mix. That long-term investment appears to still be paying dividends nearly a decade later, as national brands continue to view Grapevine Mills as a premier North Texas retail address.
