Melinda Doolin, 61, was found shot inside Avenue Plaza Apartments in downtown Louisville on August 19, 2025, according to WAVE. A man with non-life-threatening stab wounds was found outside the building and taken to a hospital, the station reported.
A grand jury indicted Timothy Garmany on November 20, 2025, on charges including murder classified as domestic violence, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a gun by a convicted felon, WAVE reported. He was arrested on December 8 while arriving at court for an unrelated matter, according to the station.
Garmany later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and other charges. WLKY reported that he was sentenced Thursday to 18 years in prison without parole and ordered to have no contact with Doolin’s family.
Doolin’s son, Austin Hale, spoke about the everyday conversations with his mother that her death had taken from him, WLKY reported.
