Tokyo X, the two-day celebration of Japanese food, fashion, anime, music and culture, takes over NRG Center at 1 Fannin Street this Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, with more than 600 vendors, live performances, cultural exhibits and entertainment spread across the venue.
The headline draw is a historic appearance by four international voice actors behind Son Goku, according to Anime News Network.
A Samurai Collection Alongside Anime Royalty
Beyond the anime spotlight, Tokyo X features a samurai exhibit. The festival's celebrity guest lineup also includes Karen Fukuhara, Dante Basco, Gen Sato and Hidetoshi Omori.
As reported by CW39 Houston, the weekend also features live performances, food, cultural exhibits and entertainment throughout both days at NRG Center. Coda is set to perform a concert featuring music tied to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, giving fans of that series their own dedicated moment on stage.
JDM Cars, Cosplay And A Food Festival Within The Festival
Tokyo X leans into Houston's car culture too. For 2026, the event features Japanese domestic market car culture and a guest appearance by Dai Yoshihara. Cosplayers, meanwhile, can compete for their own $1,000 grand prize in a main-stage Cosplay Contest, while internationally recognized costumer Yaya Han is also a guest, per Secret Houston.
Food is a central pillar of the weekend as well. The festival includes Japanese food and culinary experiences. CW39 Houston notes the broader event features live performances, food, cultural exhibits and entertainment throughout both days at NRG Center.
A Growing Houston Convention
This year's edition takes place at NRG Center and is expected to welcome more than 20,000 attendees, according to NextShark.
The festival has also built ties beyond the fairgrounds. Tokyo X has partnered with Asian digital media outlet NextShark to expand its national reach, per NextShark.
Tickets And Where Tokyo X Fits In Houston's Anime Scene
Secret Houston lists single-day passes starting at $30.48, with Sunday passes available. Single-day VIP passes are sold out, while VIP packages start at $168.44.
Tokyo X now shares Houston's calendar with other major Asian cultural gatherings, including Anime Matsuri.
