Two men are facing aggravated robbery charges after investigators say they helped pull off a masked, gunpoint heist that stripped a Southwest Houston pawn shop of more than $400,000 in jewelry. Disegha Devin Itima and Jordan Williams are accused of the August 8 robbery at the EZPAWN on South Post Oak Road, where two masked men walked in with guns pointed at employees and customers before making off with 362 pieces of jewelry, about $3,000 in cash, and a game console valued at a little over $400, according to court records.
The robbery, first reported by KTRK-TV Houston, has also been connected to a separate heist at a different Southwest Houston pawn shop just a week earlier. Investigators say Itima worked with a man named Guy Isiayei during an August 1 robbery at Bayou Pawn on Fondren Road, where more than $60,000 in jewelry was stolen. That store sits roughly 3.5 miles from the EZPAWN location, according to Pawn Shop Map, putting both robberies within the same Southwest Houston commercial corridor over the span of a single week.
Court records cited in the station's report describe surveillance footage that captured the masked men meeting up and removing their masks after the South Post Oak Road robbery, evidence investigators say helped tie the men together. Itima and Williams are now charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, and several men in total face criminal charges connected to the two armed pawn shop robberies.
Two More Suspects Still Being Sought, Including a Juvenile
The Houston Police Department is looking for at least two other people tied to the EZPAWN robbery, according to HPD. One of those still being sought is a juvenile, HPD says. It remains unclear whether investigators have identified either of the outstanding suspects, and the report notes that ABC13 is still awaiting responses from the Harris County District Attorney's Office and HPD about whether the case may be linked to other robberies.
The robbed EZPAWN store belongs to EZCORP, Inc., the Austin-based, publicly traded pawn chain founded in 1989 that operates more than 1,200 stores across the U.S. and Latin America, according to EZCORP. Texas pawnshops, including EZCORP locations, operate under Chapter 371 of the Texas Finance Code, which requires state licensing through the Office of the Consumer Credit Commissioner and mandates that shops maintain transaction reporting systems, per the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Those reporting systems, including electronic databases like LeadsOnline that many Houston-area pawn shops use to log transactions, have previously helped detectives track stolen merchandise and identify suspects, as detailed by Police1.
Steep Penalties Under Texas Law
Aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon is a first-degree felony under Texas Penal Code § 29.03, carrying a punishment range of 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, according to the L&L Law Group. The charge is also classified as a so-called 3G violent offense under Article 42A.054 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, which bars judges from granting straight probation and requires anyone convicted to serve at least half of their sentence before becoming eligible for parole, as explained by the Conroe Criminal Lawyer firm.
Armed heists at Houston pawn shops are not new. HPD's Robbery Division has recorded prior cases, including an October 2019 incident in which four masked men smashed glass display cases at an EZ Pawn on Mykawa Road to steal jewelry, according to the department's Robbery Division. Citywide, HPD data reported to City Council in early 2025 showed robberies actually fell 6.56% in 2024 compared to the year before, hitting five-year lows, per FOX 26 Houston. Even so, the department logged 3,457 robbery cases in 2025 and continues to field hundreds of robbery calls each month, according to the City of Houston's monthly operational summaries.
Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering anonymous cash rewards of up to $5,000 for information leading to charges or arrests in felony aggravated robbery cases across the Greater Houston area. Hoodline has previously covered pawn shop heists in Houston, including cases where investigators sought public help identifying armed crews targeting jewelry displays. It remains unclear how much, if any, of the 362 stolen jewelry pieces has been recovered, and whether prosecutors intend to pursue the adult co-defendants together in Harris County District Court.
