
Two 19-year-old men from Hookerton are facing attempted murder charges after a 16-year-old was shot while sitting inside a car in Greene County. Ni'Jaquez Jacori Deashawn Condery and Joshua Lucas Edwards were both arrested on September 25 and are now being held without bond as the case moves forward.
According to WCTI, the Greene County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened on September 20. Deputies responding to the scene found the teen already wounded, and he was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Per WITN, deputies were called to the intersection of Highway 258 and Highway 903, where they located the 16-year-old who had been shot. The outlet reports the teen was hit by gunfire while inside a car and was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
Arrests Made Days Apart in Separate Locations
Condery was taken into custody Friday morning by North Carolina Department of Adult Correction probation officers in Greene County, the same report notes. He was arrested without incident, the account states.
The same report indicates Edwards was arrested separately, picked up by Greene County deputies in the Maury area that same day. Authorities said he, too, was taken into custody without incident.
Charges and Custody Status
Both men were each charged with attempted murder, discharging a weapon into occupied property inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and conspiracy, per the same account. Condery and Edwards are currently held in the Greene County Detention Center without bond.
The circumstances that led to the shooting, along with the extent of the teen's injuries, have not been detailed publicly. No court dates or additional case details have been released as the investigation continues.
